Lady of Shalott
31" x 44"
The story begins with the Lady of Shalott, based on a Tennyson poem by the same name. A curse forbade the Lady from looking out the window. Only from a mirror could she view the outside world. When Sir Lancelot rides by she could not help herself. Looking out the window caused the curse to take effect and she fled the tower, racing through the woods to the river. At the river she takes a small boat bound for Camelot. She is found dead with a look of peace on her face.

Picasso's Musician #1
31" x 43"
Picasso's Musician #1 is based on a painting by Pablo Picasso, "Three Musicians" (1921). I've taken elements from different well known artists' work and woven them together. The face of the guitar player is from "Young Woman at her Toilet" by Giovanni Bellini (1515). The middle section is from "Three Musicians". The legs and floor are from Fernando Botero's "The Model" (1989).

It's Time
22" x 22"
The "Tree Series" started in Greece when I came across a painting of a tree in a small gallery in Athens. The artist's handling of the trunk of the tree reminded me of hair and the leaves looked like a hat. I started that evening with sketches for "It's time". The others, below, just kept coming.
